CAPE TOWN

ABOUT

Cape Town’s rich history, amazing food and wine, and picturesque setting create a destination unmatched in Africa. Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Table Mountain provides the backdrop to the cities’ jagged Atlantic coastline, unique secluded bays, and coastal beach towns. The city offers a great mix of large hotels, boutique hotels, and friendly bed and breakfasts. From adrenaline-filled adventures, to the cities’ historical and natural sites, to relaxing on one of Cape Town’s beautiful beaches, there is so much to do! This foodie destination is famous for its eclectic mix of culinary options and charming restaurants.

SEASONS

Cape Town receives the majority of its rain during the winter months from April to September. Summers are mostly dry and sunny from October to March. It is best to dress in layers while exploring this beautiful city due to Cape Town’s microclimates. The changing topography and cool air off the Atlantic Ocean create a weather pattern different than the rest of South Africa. Daily weather conditions are also highly variable. Activities such as visiting the top of Table Mountain are dependent upon wind gusts, so it is best to leave some wiggle room in your schedule during your time in Cape Town.

WILDLIFE

The Cape provides unique wildlife experiences. Cape Town is known for its rich, diverse marine life supported by the nutrient-rich currents of the Atlantic Ocean. Migrating southern right whales and humpback whales are seasonal highlights from June to November. Large numbers of dolphins, great white sharks, and amazing birdlife are highlights year round. Along the Cape of Good Hope you can view endemic birdlife, zebras, eland, ostrich, and furry Cape baboons. The Cape is also home to mainland colonies of African penguins that make their home along its shores.
